BROWNSVILLE, Texas – The Brownsville Fire Department opened registration for an entry-level firefighter-paramedic exam scheduled for 9 a.m. Oct. 27 at the Brownsville Event Center, 1 Event Center and Paredes Line Road.
Applicants who pass the exam will be placed on an eligibility list valid for one year, according to the city.
Applicants must be at least 18 and no older than 36 on the exam date, have a high school diploma or GED, be able to read and write English, pass physical, mental and background investigations, and be eligible for future certification by the Texas Commission on Fire Protection Personal Standards and Education.
Registration closes at 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16. The city said late registrations will not be accepted.
