Brownsville launches Child Safety Fund awareness campaign

BROWNSVILLE, Texas – The City of Brownsville, Brownsville Municipal Court, Brownsville Police Department, the Department of Health, Wellness and Animal Services, and Brownsville Metro have launched a Child Safety Fund Campaign focused on prevention, education and public awareness.

The campaign, announced Oct. 23, uses the message, “Safe Today. Strong Tomorrow. Protecting Our Future Together.” City officials said it is intended to help residents understand programs supported by Child Safety Funds and how those resources are used to reduce preventable accidents and promote child safety.

Mayor John Cowen Jr. said the effort reflects a community responsibility to provide children with safe, supportive environments. Assistant Municipal Court Director Mirla Veronica Deaton said the work requires collaboration, accountability and investments in young residents.

The campaign will include educational outreach for parents, caregivers and community members, with participating departments sharing information intended to help families identify hazards and prevent accidents. Officials also said the initiative emphasizes transparency in the use of Child Safety Fund resources.
