Starbase Sets Public Hearing on 444-Acre Annexation Proposal

STARBASE, Texas – The City of Starbase has scheduled a special City Commission meeting for 7 p.m. Sept. 16 that includes a public hearing on a proposed voluntary annexation.

The meeting is set for 48491 State Highway 4. The city's meeting listing and public notices identify the proposed annexation as an item for commission consideration.

The hearing follows Brownsville's recent action to disannex about 444 acres of property at SpaceX's request. Brownsville said the land, located along South Connector Road east of the city landfill, is intended to provide additional space for operations closer to the Port of Brownsville and is not proposed for rocket launches or testing.

Starbase commissioners are expected to receive public comment before considering the proposed action. Any final annexation would be determined through the city's public meeting process and applicable state law.
