TSC Student Earns $3,500 Respiratory Care Foundation Grant

BROWNSVILLE, Texas – Texas Southmost College Respiratory Care Science student Eleazar Hernandez has received the 2026 Neil Allen Memorial Grant from the Respiratory Care Foundation of Texas.

Hernandez received a ,500 award, the largest grant presented at the foundation’s August celebration dinner in Grapevine. His application included a research paper on airway diseases that he developed from course work with Respiratory Care Science Program Director Isidro Ramirez III.

Hernandez, a second-year student who changed careers before enrolling at TSC, said the award will help cover tuition. He also presented an airway-disease poster at the Texas Society for Respiratory Care South Region symposium earlier this year.
