Narciso Martinez Conjunto Festival Returns to Los Fresnos for 33rd Year

LOS FRESNOS, Texas – The Narciso Martinez Cultural Arts Center will hold its 33rd annual Conjunto Festival on Oct. 2-3 at Memorial Park, bringing two days of music, dancing and food to Los Fresnos.

Organizers said the festival is expected to feature 15 conjunto groups from the Rio Grande Valley and other Texas communities. The event honors the musical traditions associated with Narciso Martinez, a pioneering figure in the genre.

The festival will take place at Memorial Park, 900 Arroyo Blvd. Admission is $10 per person, per day. Gates open at 3 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday.

Friday’s schedule includes La Naturaleza, Los Badd Boys del Valle, Mando y La Venganza, Ruben Vela Jr., Los Fantasmas, Los Telles and Krazy Pimps. Saturday’s program includes student performers from Los Fresnos, Contrabando, David Flores y Los Tremendos Alacranes, Los Angeles del Sur, Santiago Jimenez, Lazaro Perez, Rodney y Los Cucuys, and Los Delta Boys.

Organizers encourage attendees to bring lawn chairs. Outside food and beverages will not be allowed.
