BROWNSVILLE, Texas — Cameron County commissioners approved a $3 increase in daily beach-entry fees Tuesday, raising the price from $12 to $15 beginning Oct. 1.
The new rate will apply at Isla Blanca Park, Andy Bowie Park, E.K. Atwood Park at Beach Access No. 5, Cameron County Beach Access No. 3 and Cameron County Beach Access No. 6.
The county also will end its trash reimbursement program when the new fee takes effect. The previous daily-use fee increase occurred in October 2019, when the rate rose from $10 to $12.
Commissioners also approved a revised schedule for recreational-vehicle sites at Isla Blanca and Andy Bowie parks. During the first year, RV site rates will increase 30%, with an additional $16 daily user charge for electrical and internet service.
RV site rates are scheduled to rise another 4% in the second year. Commissioners plan to review the rates after that period before deciding whether another adjustment is needed in the third year.
County officials said RV site rates had not increased since January 2018 and that the additional revenue is intended to help cover park renovation costs.
