Valley Regional Medical Center Plans $1.6 Million Maternity Expansion

BROWNSVILLE, Texas – Valley Regional Medical Center is planning a $1.6 million expansion that would add two operating rooms dedicated to cesarean sections at its Brownsville campus.

The privately funded project would add about 1,990 square feet to the hospital at 100 E. Alton Gloor Blvd., according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

Plans call for two C-section operating rooms and a storage room connected to the hospital's existing surgical suite. Construction is listed to begin Sept. 28 and conclude by June 30, 2027.

The filing outlines the project's scope and schedule. The hospital has not announced additional details about operations during construction or when the new rooms would begin serving patients.
