The Gladys Porter Zoo is bringing holiday cheer once again with its signature seasonal celebration, Zoo Nights & Lights, presented by McDonald’s. Set to take place from December 5th through 7th, the beloved event will run nightly from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, offering festive family fun across the Zoo grounds.
New this year, guests will have the opportunity to experience the Zoo’s holiday lights from above on the Soaring Eagle Zipline, available for just $10 per person. This addition brings a new level of excitement to an already vibrant celebration known for its immersive displays and community-centered activities.
Despite ongoing construction at the Zoo, the event will continue as planned, with organizers ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all. Attendees are encouraged to wear comfortable, closed-toed shoes as they walk through the various lighted paths and activity stations.
Highlights of Zoo Nights & Lights include:
- Spectacular light displays throughout the Zoo
- Live music and dance performances by local groups
- Christmas karaoke, cookie decorating, and photos with Santa Claus
- An arts and crafts show featuring local vendors and the Zoo’s gift shop for holiday shopping
The return of Christmas Tree Lane, where visitors can vote for their favorite decorated tree designed by competing Zoo staff teams
Admission to the event is $5 per person, with free entry for Zoo members who present their membership cards. Members are encouraged to pick up their free tickets in advance at the Zoo’s Membership Office to avoid long lines. Non-members can also receive free admission by donating a new, unwrapped toy (valued at $5 or more) to benefit the Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley—one free entry per toy donated.
Tickets can be purchased online or at the Zoo entrance during the event.
