GBEDC Participates in Discussions About AI Readiness and Talent Development in Brownsville

Workforce development leaders, industry partners, and federal representatives recently came together in Brownsville to discuss the future of work and how communities can prepare for the growing impact of artificial intelligence on the workforce. Hosted at Workforce Solutions Cameron, the roundtable focused on the American Talent Strategy: Modernizing the American Workforce & AI Readiness Initiative, bringing together stakeholders committed to strengthening talent pipelines and preparing workers for emerging opportunities. Among those participating in the discussion were Greater Brownsville Incentives Corporation (GBEDC) President and CEO Gilberto Salinas and representatives from the U.S.

Department of Labor, including Troy Selberg, Director of Workforce Initiatives, Regional Representative Joshua Wetzel, and Regional Representative Lauren Casper. During the meeting, participants explored workforce innovation strategies, the evolving role of artificial intelligence in the workplace, and ways to ensure workers have access to the skills needed to succeed in a rapidly changing economy. The conversation highlighted the importance of collaboration between employers, workforce organizations, educational institutions, and government agencies.

Representatives from a variety of industries shared perspectives on current workforce challenges and opportunities, while identifying ways to expand and strengthen talent development efforts across the region.
