Brownsville Residents Advised of Possible Starship Test Flight Thursday

Brownsville residents may hear sonic booms Thursday as SpaceX prepares for a potential 13th Starship test flight from Starbase.

The City of Brownsville said SpaceX is preparing for a possible launch Thursday, July 16, between 5:45 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. Central time. The city said residents in the South Padre Island, Port Isabel and Brownsville areas may hear sonic booms during the launch.

The city is encouraging residents to sign up for City of Brownsville text alerts to receive updates about the possible launch and future city notices. Residents can register through the City Alerts section at BrownsvilleTX.gov.

The notice comes as Starship activity continues to draw regional attention across Cameron County, including impacts on nearby communities, roadways and coastal areas during launch operations.
