Mexico Announces $2.16 Billion Housing Push in Tamaulipas

REYNOSA, Mexico ' Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum highlighted more than 38 billion pesos, about $2.16 billion, in planned housing investment for Tamaulipas during a visit to Reynosa.

The state has a goal of 60,000 homes through Infonavit, Mexico's national housing fund for workers. About 47,000 homes have been contracted across 36 developments, and another 5,270 are under review.

The housing initiative is significant to the Rio Grande Valley because Reynosa and Matamoros are part of the same binational labor, trade and housing market as South Texas.
