BROWNSVILLE, Texas – A new mural is adding color to downtown Brownsville, bringing public art to the corner of 12th Street and East Elizabeth Street.
The City of Brownsville shared the new artwork in a social media post, describing the mural as a celebration of art, culture and community. According to the city, Brownsville was selected by Coca-Cola as the only city in South Texas to receive the mural.

A plaque at the site identifies the mural as a work by Los Otros and says it is part of Coca-Cola’s Paint the Nation campaign, a nationwide mural campaign celebrating America’s 250th birthday in 2026. The plaque says the Brownsville mural was inspired by regional textiles unique to the area and its close proximity to Matamoros, Mexico.
The artwork features a young Latino couple in traditional attire sharing a moment over a Coca-Cola. The mural is meant to celebrate local heritage, connection and the enduring spirit of the community.
The mural also adds to downtown’s growing collection of public art, giving residents and visitors another visual landmark in the city’s historic core.
