The City of Brownsville Parks and Recreation Department is inviting the community to stay active, healthy, and connected this June with a full lineup of free fitness classes, social activities, and outdoor programs. Hosted in partnership with ¡Tu Salud Sí Cuenta! and UTHealth Houston School of Public Health, the monthly schedule offers something for all fitness levels, from low-impact classes like Tai Chi, Pilates, and Fit and Strong to high-energy workouts such as Zumba and Boot Camp. Weekly classes will be held at several locations, including the Senior Center, Oliveira Gym, and Dean Porter Park. Residents can also enjoy social activities such as Bunco, Art Class, Bingo, and Loteria on select days throughout the month.
In addition to weekly programming, Parks and Recreation will offer two special Kayaking on the Trails sessions on Sunday, June 14, at 9 a.m. and Friday, June 19, at 5:30 p.m. Both sessions will meet at the Brownsville Events Center. Registration is free, but space is limited. The community is also invited to take part in Lunar Yoga on Saturday, June 27, at 7:30 p.m. at Dean Porter Park, located at 501 E. Ringgold St. Participants are encouraged to bring their own yoga mat. Whether residents are looking to try a new workout, meet new people, or spend more time outdoors, June’s programming offers plenty of ways to get moving and have fun.
